WE HOPE TO SHARE A TIP OR STRATEGY FOR MAKING THE MOST OF YOUR MONDAY.
“…love one another with mutual affection; outdo one another in showing honor.”
– Romans 12:10 NRSV
This past Friday, I had an open house. We are in a new church community and I wanted to get to know the church. So I started with the leadership… I invited everyone on the current leadership, my search committee, and also the church staff. In the past, when I have done something similar, understandably not everyone could attend and a nice group (10-15) would be a part of the party.
Well.. I was quite surprised when 45, (Yes, 45 people) responded that they would attend. And they really meant it!
Admittedly, my house is not a big one. Luckily, I have a family who adjusts and goes with the flow.
It was a wonderful evening. Some came and stayed for a while, some just popped by and said hi. There were kids, great conversation, yummy food and just a overwhelming sense of home.
I walked around all Saturday with a big smile on my face. I am so excited to get to know this community better. I have a feeling they feel the same way.
It was a surprising and wonderful way to start getting to know this community.
So… On this Monday, I encourage you to reflect on how you are creating intentional relationships.
1. Are you creating opportunities to connect with one another?
2. Are you being vulnerable and taking a risk for people to get to know “the real you”?
3. If so, celebrate it! If not, make plans to take the next step in building relationships.
You never know, you may have an evening like we did, and be on your way to 45 new friendships.
